Frequently Asked Questions

Is everything really allergen-free?

Yes! Every item on this website is created without any of the Top 9 Allergens. To see the full ingredient list for any specific product, please visit the individual product page. Please see the disclaimer at the bottom of the page for kitchen information.

What are the Top 9 Allergens?

According to the FDA, the Top 8 Allergens are the most common food allergens to affect people in the USA. They are milk/dairy, eggs, fish, shellfish, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat/gluten, soybeans, and sesame.

Can you accommodate other food allergies?

In most cases, yes I can! However, I cannot guarantee that there will not be any cross contact with any food allergens not included in the Top 9. For example: if you are allergic to cinnamon, I can bake without it, as well as thoroughly clean my equipment before baking, but since some of my baked goods contain cinnamon, I cannot completely guarantee there will not be any cross contact.

Is everything naturally colored?

Absolutely! Everything I bake and decorate is 100% free from all artificial dyes. I use multiple options for natural coloring, including fruit and vegetable powders, TruColor natural food colorings, and various cocoa powders.

For a full list of coloring options and to see the ingredients, please check out the "Frosting Ingredients" page under the "Info" tab

How long do your baked goods stay fresh?

All Free & Clear baked goods are made without any preservatives, so the sooner you enjoy them, the better! If in an air-tight container, I recommend no more than 48 hours at room temperature, 1 week in the fridge, or 1 month in the freezer.

Bread items will go stale much quicker than desserts, so immediately storing leftovers in the freezer is the best way to keep them soft and delicious!

What size cake should I get?

It's hard to properly gauge how many slices each cake provides, as some people prefer small slices, while others (like myself :D) prefer larger slices. These numbers are based on 3-layer cakes and about 1" x 2" size slices.

Mini Cake - 4-6 slices

6" - 10-16 slices

8" - 20-26 slices

10" - 32-38 slices

Quarter Sheet - 20-24 slices

Half Sheet - 36-48 slices

What are layers?

When it comes to cakes, "layers" refers to how many layers of cake are inside, each separated by frosting. Each standard cake layer is about 1" in height.

For example, a 3-layer cake will have three layers of cake with a layer of frosting in between each.

Why can't you ship your desserts?

Due to Texas Cottage Baking Law (SB 572), baked goods made in a home kitchen cannot be shipped. However, I do offer curbside pick-up and delivery!

Why can't you make anything that requires refrigeration or freezing?

Due to Texas Cottage Baking Law (SB 572), baked goods made in a home kitchen must be shelf-stable and cannot require refrigeration or freezing.

Do you have a storefront?

Not yet! In the future I plan to open an actual brick-and-mortar bakery, but for now, Free & Clear Bakery is strictly a home bakery.

Where are you located?

My home bakery is located at 19526 Stamford Drive, Tomball, TX. While I do not have a storefront at this time, you're still welcome to pick-up your order! Just add the "Pick Up" product before check-out. Alternatively, delivery is also an option!

Why can't you design a cake based on a favorite character?

Due to strict copyright laws, I cannot use any copyrighted content, including characters, symbols, toys, etc.

I can, however, create a cake with a specific color scheme and style, and leave room for you to add your own toy or copyrighted merchandise.
